Can Vegas Pro record streaming audio to the timeline. I would like to use a free internet broadcast of my daughter’s hockey game. It streams through in through the speakers. Is there a way to capture this audio or other streaming internet audio so I can apply it to the corresponding footage that I shot? Thanks.

[Mark Prebonich] “Can Vegas Pro record streaming audio to the timeline.”

Yes, but the way to do it is dependent on your sound card and what operating system you are using. Some sound cards like the SoundBlaster and it’s descendants have a mode called “What-U-Hear” which records whatever you hear from the speakers. Others will have a mode called “Stereo Mix”. Whatever the mode, this is what you want to record. You make have to open the Volume applet and enable recording from this input. Then when you ARM an audio track in Vegas, it will record the Stereo Mix of the speakers.

Note: if anything beeps on your computer it will get recorded. You will probably want to change your PC theme so silent audio before recording and close any instant messaging or other applications that might make a sound.

Thanks for the advice. I went to the ASUS website and downloaded the audio driver for my motherboard. I was then able to find the Stereo Mix selection which hadn’t been present previously. Worked like a charm.

Glad you found it. Don’t forget to set it back to Microphone to do regular recording. Enjoy,
