Record Scrubber in FCP
Hello again,
Does anybody know a method to record the scrubber action in FCP to tape?
I can produce a nice effect by dragging the scrubber over a clip at various speeds, forward and backward etc, and was wondering if there’s a way to capture that live to tape, if that makes sense.

Just put a tape in the deck, hit record, and scrub away.

To get a signal out wouldnt I need to be in print or edit to tape mode? And in those modes I don’t have access to the scrubber. What am I missing here?

If you have View>External>All Frames set, you should be getting your output on your external audio and video monitors at all times via the FW port, which is really the best way to work, anyway.

If ya can see it on your NTSC monitor, then you can record it. No you don’t need to print to tape or edit to tape. Many people don’t bother. Print to tape just makes sure everything is mixed down and rendered and halts other processes to give full attention to output in hopes of not dropping frames. Edit to tape is similar, but with deck control.
