Hello – I recently lost some media files on my external hard drive (and on the back up drive). Long story. I’m using Disk Drill to recover the lost files, but many are reconstructed with unintelligible names. I’m still running FCP7. Will FCP be able to find the files (by size etc) – or will I need to review each one, to restore the name I gave it in my FCP project? This may be tough with some files (like six different wind SFX). Any tips would be appreciated.

It’s probably a question better asked in the FCP 7 group where people actually remember how that app works but I don’t think I’d be wrong in saying you’ll have to go through and manually relink the clips. I can’t imagine any NLE having enough to go on to automatically relink media based only on file size.
