REconnecting P2 files after changing names in FCP….
Ok.
So i’m logging a P2 feature, and i load from the p2 saved files off hard drives i have been given by production. I go and change the file names in FCP to coinside with scene and take and what not. THEN i remove the p2Ok.

THEN i remove the p2 file and go on (limited space for the xmf to mov convert) Basically making an assembly list with the hopes of reconnecting all the media scene by scene (or hard drive by hard drive) when they want to start editing. ONLY THING IS when i go to reconnect it won’t connect my .mov files with the XMF files.
It seems i have to re-import the p2 card files, but then what’s the point of me renaming? Anyone? I’m sure there’s some simply setting I’m missing. Thanks in advance for the help guys.

This is why when I rename the P2 files, I keep the original number as part of the name.
For example: Sc3A-1 (00034G.mov), Sc3A-2 (0004YX.mov)…and so on for the narrative shows. And for documentary I’ll have things like “Upper Manhattan skyline (0002KJ.mov).” Always keep the file name as part of the clip name. This way, if you manually have to reconnect, you can find the file name.

What do you mean by this? They shouldn’t. Your clips reconnecting with the MOV files is what you want.
