During rendering, the USB cable got pulled out accidentially. I had to quit original timeline and reopen.

When I reopened .fcp the timeline showed clips as missing media, but no matter what I do, I cannot get the media to reconnect.

When I use the “reconnect media” application, it “locates” the root file correctly, but when I click on “connect” the mouse icon shows that the file is loading, yet the clip in the timeline still displays the “missing media” red bar even though the canvas and digital cinema desktop preview (full screen, on another monitor) shows the clip as being present. When I render a clip, it plays fine and even scrolls out if needed.. but the timeline still displays the clip as “media missing” even though I can play it fine in the cinema display and canvas.

    Should I worry?

No need to worry. But, if you want to get rid of that, then delete (trash) the Thumbnail Cache files. Those are where you set them in the SYSTEM PREFS…default in your DOCUMENTS folder>Final Cut Pro Documents.

if that USB cable you are refering to is how you connect the hard drive you store your media on to the computer, then just a heads up that USB is not recomended for video editing drives. They can be problamatic for the needs of video.

There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
