    Hey there,

Just wondering if anyone had grown accustomed to doing this in FCP7? When I make an animation in After Effects or any other program, I would import it into FCP7 and edit with it. But then, a change is requested to said animation. No problem, I make the change in AE and then re-export it out again. But what I do is simply reconnect the clip to the newer one as the in-out’s were left the same in AE upon export.

I haven’t figured out a way to replicate doing this in FCPX and was wondering if anyone else has figured it out. There doesn’t appear to be a reconnect media clip option when I right-click to any of the clips in my library folder.

As long as the clip has the same length and attributes, like frame rate, size, and audio/video parameters it should reconnect just fine. I think it’s under file>relink files. But as I mentioned in a post above, just make sure X is closed, and rerender right over the old file. Open X back up and it won’t know the difference. No tedious linking necessary.

Thanks, I hadn’t thought of that before.
