    Hi,

I’ll make this as quick as I can.

A 60min doc was cut on Avid and then put through Automatic Duck and conformed in FCP.
I was then given the FCP project and media on a drive and transfered it all to my FCP online
System and began the online and Color grade. Works like a dream.

The problem I have now is they’ve done a rather large recut on the avid sequence.(this cut has been
done in another post house). They sent an AAF to yet another facilty to produce an FCP project
with Automatic Duck. I now have this project/new sequence and it will not reconnect (unspecified path)
and I’ve tried everything. Should I just reconform it myself now and start the online over.

    Thanks for any help.
    Danny.

Well, having only tested this process out, I can only say that perhaps the QT reference movies that were made on the OTHER system have different file names so FCP cannot reconnect to them.

Seems like a do-over to me. And charge them. When they say something is locked and sent to online, and you online, and then they make changes…well… the fault is theirs.

Lemme BATSIGNAL Wes of Automatic Duck and see if he has better insight.

yeah, because of the way FCP’s Media Manager and reconnect work,
reconnecting in this case will probably not work at all.

or more annoyingly, not work most of the time, but work ok other times.
    basically its a mess.

it night also be worth having a look at Video Toolshed’s FCP Reconnect:
