Hi, I’m working with a timeline that has a great deal of unconnected clips in separate folders & subfolders. Is there a easy way of bringing every unconnected clip into the reconnect window without having to select each batch separately? Is there a keyboard shortcut? Thanks.

    Hey Michael,

Just right click all the clips that are offline.
    > reconnect media.
Then click locate. Locate one of the clips.
If all your subfolders are in your workfolder.(normally it doesnt matter)
It should reconnect every clip in your timeline.
No shorty that i know off

I’m having a similar issue. When you say all of the subfolders are in your work folder are you referring to all folders being in the capture scratch folder of that particular project?
    Thank you,
    Chris

Yes. I have about 50 primary folders with folders within those & folders within those & so on. You can see how that would be troublesome for reconnecting media. The project just moved from another system so every file is offline.

This is why you should NOT become too obsessive about folder structure. One big bucket is better than a hundred little ones.

We try to keep our media no more that 3 -4 clicks from root level. That way, reconnecting is a breeze.

I do. I’ve never had project that required more than one subfolder for organization. This project is coming from another editor though, so It’s a bit of a process to locate them folder by folder.

You don’t like to press the search button? You can also tell it the top level to start at for search so as not to search the whole system everytime. Should be nothing to it. And just select all the clips and choose reconnect media. Then just choose “offline” at the top. For that matter, just choose the sequence in the bin and choose reconnect and then offline.

[Bret Williams] “You don’t like to press the search button? “

    Brett,

I like the search button. I really do. But…if you’ve got to hit search, then you haven’t done an adequate job organizing your media.

In my opinion, you should be able to look at the file name and know where to look for it.

We’re handling almost 75 terrabytes of media from six different shows. Yet, I can still manually reconnect if necessary. Another reason for not being fond of the search function is that until Leopard, search (spotlight) didn’t work on X-SAN.
