If Sceanalyzer works for capturing video, then that is your workaround for capturing DV video.
You want to add music to your project?? What is the source of your music…CD?? you playing a guitar?? ITunes purchase??

George, I did not see you answer to the other posters on your Jan 13 post re: is there other capture card that you are using to bring in the DV? Or you are capturing thru a standard IEEE firewire port? When you turn off your XL1, then turn it back on while connected to the pc, does it bring up a dialog box to ask if you want to open it via various programs (including premiere)?

Hi Perry.
I am able to capture useing Windows MovieMaker and Firewire.The problem is i have been unable to capture with Adobe 1.5.
I am always shown the window to ask which software i would like to use.
I have also captured with other editing systems from my XL1s.
I think that would eliminate a camera or firewire problem.
It seems to come down to either a software or system requirement problem.

Only means the firewire connection is ok, not that the setup of Ppro is ok, hence the questions about what you are doing, or not doing.

If you use the options shown in the pop-up window they only steer to a particular program, they have nothing to do with the setup of the program, Movie Maker is a simple program that uses very generic camera control settings, if you use Premiere you have to set the Device Control options in advance for the proper cam and model or appropriate standard settings to be able to get the fine control for more sophisticated capture options.
What you should do when the Pop-up window shows is to cancel it and open premiere and verify that your project is setup right and device contol options are correct first before trying to capture.

Could you tell me how i go about finding if my project is set up right? And i don`t know where to find my device control options.

When you first open Ppro the first splash screen it will ask you if you want an old project or a new one, if a new one then it will give you a set of parameters to choose from, like DV-NTSC with sub choices of standard or wide scree with the sample rate of the audio you are using, then name the project and continue and open the program, the use the edit dropdown menu select perferences and setup your scratch disks etc, then select the project dropdown and select the general and usually most choices are greyed out except the safe areas and the playback settings which you can set to suit yourself. then select capture and set DV capture in. when you select F5 to capture and the window appears select the Setting Tab go down to Device control select Options then set Video Standard, Brand, Type time code auto or dropframe, if the cam is connected and is recognized in My computer under imaging device and scanners it should say online next to the check status button, proceed back to the logging window set names, try running the cam contols from below the capture screen, and proceed.

It still says “Can`t activate recorder-Try resetting camera”.

You May have other than Microsoft Direct Show Capture Filters on your machine, if you have loaded any other video software that uses third party capture filters may be causing the problem, best thing is to go to Adobe’s support site Ppro section and search for your error message per’se, there should be a couple of solutions to use to find the filters and disable them

Searched my computer for third party capture cards and there arn`t any.

It has nothing to do with third party cards, but third part drivers, which can be loaded by trial software, enbedded firewire ports, etc. since you decline to provide other information I would suggest you pay a local person to look at your system, The major cause of the problems you are having are usually drivers, second: multiple devices on the firewire line, third: USB capture devices and drivers, since most of they have been covered, ???
