  • Recommendation on OS 10.4.9, FCP 5.1.4, QT 7.1.5

I’m trying to edit on my FCP Studio 5.1.1 a project that my client has on his 5.1.4 machine. Unfortunately the project files are not compatible. (I know I can XML import and export, but I don’t want to go that route all through the project.)

    I’m running 10.4.3 and Qt 7.1.2.
10.4.9 combo update wants at least Qt 7.1.3. Seems Qt 7.1.5 may not be the most stable choice from what little I’ve read. OS 10.4.9 apparently caused someone some problems with FCP and they went back to 10.4.8 to resolve, but don’t have many details there either.

What’s the consensus? Use XML? 10.4.8? QT 7.1.4??? FCP 5.1.4?
    What’s working for you?
    What didn’t?

    Love,
    Jeff

    Jeff,

I’m using 10.4.8, 7.1.3 and 5.1.4, no problems. HDV and DVCProHD projects, G-5 dual 2.u7, 4 gig ram. Like you, I’m waiting on 10.4.9 or any higher on QT.

I’ve been running Final Cut 5.1.4 with QT 7.1.5 and OSX 10.4.9 without any problems, working on a project between two machines (MacBook Pro and Mac Pro). I’d say go for it.

Hi, maybe you should read my post here and give this a try to see if your system is as stable as you thought.
