Recapturing Media
We are trying to recapture all our media because our drive crashed. During batch capture we’re encountering time code breaks which make it impossible for Final Cut Pro to reconnect the media and it discards the clips with time code breaks. Any advice on how get our media back where it’s supposed to be?

Might be just a case of a bit of dirt in the playback device reporting TC breaks that really aren’t there… clean the deck, and give it another go…

We cleaned the head. Still have the same problem.

Post more about the source machine, and the camera that shot the footage (might work best using the camera that shot the footage as the source machine. Also post which version of FCP, OS, and QuickTime you are running.

We shot with a Panasonic DVX100A and we shot 24P-Advanced.
When capturing we are removing the pulldown.
The source machine we’re using is a deck, a Sony DSR-20.

Quicktime 7.0.1
OS X Tiger on a Dual G5 with 2.5 GB ram
We have started capturing the footage again with Capture now and then reconnecting the pieces that result with “Reconnect.” It seems to be working and the media files are reconnecting with the Master clips and subclips, as well as most sequences. I have one sequence however that is a compilation of other sequences and is the entire movie and it’s still showing the media as being offline unless a use Batch Recapture. I can work around this, but I would like the media to return everywere. Any advice?

You should be able to open the nests and then reconnect the sequences which open.. just select all in the timeline window and control click to reconnect the clips in the sequences, and will then reconnect the nests.
