    Hi,

I’ve got to recapture all my media after a so-called bulletproof hardware RAID started dying on me – files are all there but drive just freezes when I try to copy them off- HOW ANNOYING??

    Anyway,

There’s so much material I’m running three machines to try to get it back in. Will save the projects as different versions and pull the clips across if I have to but hopefully reconnect will work from my master project once it’s all redigitized.

Herein lies the problem, on some of the batches I’m getting this message at the end –

“The clip ‘x’ was unable to be reconnected to the newly captured media, due to a mismatch in the media present in the file and the media required by the clip. Try recapturing using logged clip settings to resolve the problem.”

Now I guess this is to do with the settings for media allocation – normally I write video and audio to separate files but I know that the digitser started this project with that option unchecked and then we changed it after a few rolls had been digitized. However I’m digitizing using logged clip settings and I’ve tried capturing both ways (seperate audio and merged audio) to no avail.

    PLEASE HELP!!

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Also,

on some clips when I go through the batch capture window I get the message saying that some clips in the current batch have the same filename, and what do I want to do. This even happens if I’m trying to capture a single clip however if I give it an alternative name (by adding an a at the end of the filename) it then wants to digitize the clip twice – WHAT? So far I’ve just aborted and moved on to a different tape.

here’s a more detailed explanation of the problem

The problem I’ve had stemmed from a RAID unit apparently going south (despite the fact that these things are supposed to protect you from this kind of thing!!!). Anyway I had to decide whether to press on with resurrecting the drive and copying the media off it or biting the bullet and recapturing my project – it seemed that recapturing was the way to go. There’s so much media that I’ve got three machines recapturing and am dearly hoping that I’ll be able to rebuild an entire project from all this once the media’s all back on-line. I had the clips digitized on a 1 reel per bin basis (ie Bin 1 contains reel 1 only) – some of these clips are subclipped. On recapturing some of these bins (and it does seem to be ones with subclips – but I don’t know whether that’s related) FC only captures the video and I get this message :

“The clip ‘x’ was unable to be reconnected to the newly captured media, due to a mismatch in the media present in the file and the media required by the clip. Try recapturing using logged clip settings to resolve the problem.”

I have to try digitizing them again and it comes up with a warning that there are duplicate filenames and I need to rename them – this I do by adding a letter at the end of the name then pressing continue. It then digitizes the clip twice but does manage to reconnect.

Any idea what’s going on here and how I can stop it. And what on earth’s going to happen when I try to put all this lot back together!!!

While at the moment I’ve got three identical projects I’m planning to save as and give them unique names in case I have to move bins from the specific project that the media was redigitzed to. If this happens I’ve no idea what will happen to my sequences which of course look for clips from across all of these bins.

    “use clip settings” is checked

There you go, a strange one.

    Hi Rob,
I wonder if you found a solution to the
‘I get the message saying that some clips in the current batch have the same filename, and what do I want to do.”
    problem.
I am trying to recapture my media onto a new (G) drive. (sadly my old lacie drive got fried). I’m not sure how to proceed when I get this message.
