The original m2t and GS proxy files for a project I’m working on were saved on a 250 gb hd that I dropped and destroyed a couple of days ago. I’ve been trying to recapture the m2t files from the source HDV tape by right clicking on the file’s icon in the project media bin.

Whenever I right click the file or files (the m2t, not the proxy), the “Recapture” is greyed out and unavailable and nothing happens after clicking “Recapture all offline media.” The HC1 is connected with source tape ready and I’ve checked and unchecked the “ignore 3rd party DV codec” box in preferences, thinking that had something to do with vidcap.

I don’t know what else to try.

Go to CineForm and download a trial version of HD Connect. The program will run as a standalone and will convert the files on the HD (or recapture from the tape if need be). Chances are, if you use it, you will wind up buying it. At $199 it’s a great buy.
