Working with Premiere Pro, I experienced a disk failure and need to recapture several minutes of video for a project. All would be fine, except that the “video in points” are all zeros in the project, so I don’t know where to begin or end the recaptures. What happened to the original in/out points? THanks very much.

The in and out points should have been saved with the project, assuming the project wasn’t on the failed drive. You may be able to recover the in’s and out’s from the autosaved version of the project. I don’t have my machine or handbook to hand but it should cover recovery. You could also do a search within the Cow.

Thanks very much for your response.
I have a good backup of the project file itself – it’s the linked video files that are lost. I need to recapture several files from DV tape, but the the media in/out points shown in the project file from when I originally captured the footage are all zeros. Is that capture information gone forever, or is there some way to access it? I tried opening the Premiere project file in “notepad” but couldn’t ascertain timecode in/out points.
    THanks again. Happy Thanksgiving.

Easy enough to find out – give this a try. Open one in batch capture and see if time code information shows up and the tape searches. I had several jobs stop displaying tie code info in project manager but it was available in batch capture and also showed up in properties (why, I have no idea). Good luck.
