Activity Forums VEGAS Pro recalling a saved project

How does one recall a saved working project if you are not sure the title you gave it? Is there a way to input the footage used to recall the whole project?
Does Vegas 9c retain all projects somewhere?
Every time I close a working project I “save as” and yet only 6 projects are listed. Where are all the others?

Start a new instance of Vegas and click on the File option up top.
At the bottom of this list will be the last 6 opened projects.
Hopefully the one you’re looking for is in this list.

BTW, a very good habit to get into for all your projects is to create a new properly-named master folder and store EVERY SINGLE asset used in the project in this folder, including veg files.
It makes everything, including back-ups, MUCH easier.

For example, a new master folder for me has folders named Captures, Music, Pictures, Graphics, Voice-overs and other folders as needed.
Veg files go in the root of this folder and have the same name as the master folder.

Thanks Mike. Unfortunately, the one I am looking for is more than 6 back. I wish I had made up that master folder you suggested-live and learn.Glad there are folks like you to help. Thanks.

Mike I tried to create a new folder: “Master folder”. I don’t think it happened, nothing in the help to show me how to do that step by step. Do you mind to run through that for me?

    Thanks.

You wont find any help within the program for what Mike is telling you. Creating a Master folder now certainly wont help you find the files you are looking for. Do a system search for all files with an ending of veg. It would look like this… *.veg

It will return any and all files that have that extension so you should find yours. Now if you do locate it the next problem you will have is locating all the files it will need. Hopefully you have not moved or deleted them. If you have moved them it will tell you which files it is looking for and where it expected to find them. You’ll have to search for every one of those and tell it where the new one resides. If you have deleted them you will need to reload them. That is why Mike’s tip is so very vital to avoid these problem later. Hope this helps

If you don’t know where the projects are being saved, then they are probably all in the same place. Open any one of the 6 most recent projects. Then, perform a “File -> Save As”. Look at the information in the “save” dialogue. It will tell you the drive and directory structure of the directory where your files are located. Write down all of the information. If you “File -> Open” in that directory, you should find all of your projects.

Bob, thank you! That worked, I found all the projects, just as you suggested. I so appreciate Creative Cow, and all who participate!
