I shot a short film in 08 on HDcam, but for various reasons I could only get the tapes into the edit as DVcam files. Now I’ve finally got the HDcam tapes as Prores files I want to rebuild the edit – and I’m trying to do it in X as I no longer have 7 on my system.

Some kind soul has converted the old fcp project to an XML which I’ve bought into X 10.1. However it won’t let me relink back to the new Prores files becaus they don’t match the audio configuration etc.

Has anyone one got any bright ideas or do I need to bite the bullet and re install 7?

Is the kind soul near you?

Have them relink to the HDCAM in fcp7 and run another translation.

If not, all you need to do is install fcp7, and it goes really quick (don’t install the whole suite). Be sure to follow Apple’s guidelines: https://support.apple.com/kb/ht4722

After you reconnect, use 7toX to import to fcpx.

You can then remove it later using FCS Remover: https://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/
