I’m in the middle of my 30 day demo with Vegas 7.

I like a lot of features in Vegas 7, but I’m hitting a rather fatal problem.

My computer reboots when about 95% finished with big renders, be they to SD MPEG-2 or SD AVI. These are renders that take my dual-Xeon 2.8GHz SuperMicro P4DC6+ platform about 5 to 8 hours. It gets to about 95% doing fine, and then the WinXP SP2 system reboots, and when Windows finished booting, the motherboard overheat alarm sounds. A quick check of the BIOS hardware monitor shows that there is no overheating happening. In fact, if I run SupraDoc II to watch temps during the render, with both CPUs cranking away at 100%, the temp maxes out at 70 deg. C. I have it set to alarm at 85 deg. C.

I did this HDV wedding in it, so in order to get it out to SD, I had to split the project in half and render it to two separate SD AVIs, which rendered fine.

I’m quite confident there’s nothing wrong with my hardware, since I do 8-9 hour MPEG-2 renders in TMPGEnc and WME 9 all the time, with no problems.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

I think I’d try rendering that last 5-10% separately to DV-AVI. Does that work? If yes, just replace the last piece with that rendered footage.
