    Hi Guys,

I’ve been having an absolute nightmare with the latest gen of the G-RAID external drives that you simply hook up to your Mac and go. GTech are aware of the problem but no solution has been offered as yet. Currently they can’t get hold of any previous generation models and I really don’t know where to go!

So basically I’m looking for some kind of RAID system with around 5-8TB of RAID storage, that I can hook up to my Mac via standard eSata or FW800 at a push. I’ve got around £600 ($1000) credit to spend on it. I don’t have a RAID card in my machine. I’ve been using the G-RAIDs for the last 3 years and I won’t touch Lacie again. I’m not looking to run anything ridiculous like uncompressed video through it.

Anyone got any thoughts on what I should look into?

    Thanks,
    Jon

    Hi Jon,

we are running a sonnet R400 with Hitachi Ultrastars 3Gb Raid5. It’s a good piece of Hardware. There is also a Proavio and Areca which would fit your needs (Esata, FW, USB).

    cheers

    Rainer
