    Hi everyone.

I just installed Adobe Encore and just starting to learn how the program is, but there is one critical error.
When I import a video-file as an asset and add it to a timeline, I would expect to could play the timeline and view it at the place called “monitor”, but it doesn’t play the video.

I also cant play it when I watch the project preview.

Can anyone help? Do I need a codec or something?

    Jonathan,
encores preview is just a simple preview – to give you an idea what might happen.

if you would like to have a real simulation, you should use a DVD-or BD-player-software

    Johan,
Would you mind answering a couple of questions?
Windows or Mac? Which version of Encore?
    BluRay of SD DVD?
    PAL or NTSC?

Assuming you are doing a SD DVD, and you right click in the project window and select import as time line, a file that is .avi and 720x 480, you should be able to preview this in the monitor as you suggest ie hitting the spacebar should play your file.
However, as you probably know, the preview window is for the whole project with menus etc.
What type of file are you trying to preview?
