Realtime Audio Preview ?
Hello everyone,
Every time I do a RAM Preview,
info panel displays “Mixing Audio for Preview”
and usually it takes a while.I was wondering if it is possible to
preview audio without going through this process.I just have one clip with audio in 22khz 8bit mono
and it still takes a while to “Mixing Audio for Preview”It would be great if I can just press spacebar
and hear the audio like premiere. But I guess
I can’t do that in AFX…. or can I ?Any special codec I should use ?
I don’t mind working with very low sampling rates
and even in 8bit mono. I’ll be happy As long as
I can hear the soundtrack and be able to sync
the visual.I would very very much appreciate any help or
suggestions.Thank you in advance.

make sure you only have one layer’s audio enabled.
and make sure thats a layer that goes from beginning to end -
To preview audio only, press the period key on the numeric kepad.
Preview length and resolution are set in prefs, so if you’re only able to preview 8 secs or so adjust your preferences.
While you preview audio in this way you can press the asterisk key (again the one on the numeric keypad) to place layer markers to time amination with audio. (You must have a layer selected first).

I seem to recall that matching the audio preview prefs to the actual settings of your audio source file should speed things up.

Try a shorter section of your work area. When you ram preview, it starts by mixing the audio, then moves on to the video. So, if it seems like it’s taking forever just to start evaluating the video, you may want to try a shorter work area.
