really crackly audio on the SDI out- don’t know why- please help

October 14, 2005 at 3:09 pmi think i have the same or a very similar problem while recording audio and video to the deck.
the symptoms while recording begins with the flicker of the “VITC” indicator. after that the
channel indicator changes from green to red and that’s the point where the audio get lost.
i solved it by by switching the “out ref” from “ref” to “input video”. i really have no idea what
this switch initially does but after that it worked. i don’t know if you are familiar with dbeta,
the switch is located in the bottom part of the front panel which must be pulled out to have
access to this and many other switches. -

The switch actually sets the deck to take the input ref video (sync) from the video input signal or an exernal refernce input. If the switch is not proper you may get channel conditions error.
Is your audio too high in premiere project. ideally keep the dgbeta rec levels at defaults and set the audio levels from fcp or ppro. if levels are too high you will get crackled and dropped audiosameer shrivastava
