realistic sun close up
Posted by Lorraine Collard on August 5, 2008 at 2:51 pmCan anyone please advise me on how to create a realistic close up of the sun in after effects. I want to show the sun kind of boiling, explosions and flares coming out of it, the sun radiating heat….not much there then…lol.

August 6, 2008 at 1:12 pmits pretty much from scratch. i have experimented using the sphere and fractal noise, colorama etc but can’t get the desired effect.

August 14, 2008 at 8:49 pmSometimes I think we forget about good old smoke and mirrors tricks.
I had to do a closeup of the sun for a project I was working on once, and I filmed a pan full of very salty boiling water. I slowed it down, manipulated the color, and added a bit of a curve to it in post.
People asked me if it was stock footage… lol.

August 15, 2008 at 4:13 pmhmmmm. . .I’d think that you could play around alot with Fractal Noise and add some color to it. For the boiling explosions and such I’m not sure what you could use, but Chet’s idea is a grand one. For the flares and such, if you’ve got Particular then that would probably be a good start.
Seems like an interesting experiment!
