    Hi.

I have animated a pair of scissors cutting and am trying to have them cut through a piece of paper. The issue is getting the paper to look like it is falling away as the scissors cut.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this ?

Base Package C4d 10.5 with Mograph.

Also is it possible to animate polygons and if so how do you do it ? Do you have to make selections and animated the selections ? I can’t figure it out.

    Thanks.

I assume there is a way with mograph but I dont know it.

I think I would use 2 planes and then a bend deformer on each one. Or maybe a single plane with a bend deformer in a symmetry object.

You can use PLA (point level animation) first you need to enable PLA. there is a botton under the time line with a bunch of dots on it in a group with move, scale, rotation make sure its highlighted too (its off by default). Then in Point mode you can key frame your points position. I generally use it with a morph deformer but that goes with mocca.

In order to animate points/polys you need to enable the point level animation radio button at the far right of the time slider (to the left of the speaker icon). Then it’s just a matter of moving points/polygons and clicking record.

I can think of a number of ways to simuate the cut. Here’s one example using bend deformers: https://www.3danvil.com/tutorials/paper_cut.c4d

You could also use point level animation, animated splines in extrudes, etc.

Thanks guys. I ended up doing it in Aftereffects but I really did need to know how to animate polys. I will definitely check out the example as well. Thanks.
