I just watched Walter Biscardi’s Secrets for Real-time Sequences- thanks for a really great lesson, Walter. I am certainly one of those “new to the application”, and it looks like our new HD shooting format may be XDCam HD. We hear that the ingest of this format can be done in faster-than-realtime. If that’s the case, does it mean that our HD clips will need to match the Sequence setting as was demonstrated in the video?

If so, what is the best workflow for projects which will incorporate SD 60i material? Specifically, does the SD raw footage that is placed into a sequence set for XDCam HD also playback in real-time on a fast 2008 mac? Or, must there first be a conversion/render in order to have an enjoyable, fluid and 100% real-time “rough edit” experience with mixed HD/SD footage on the computer’s LCD display?

Thanks for any comments & perspective.
