    You could use the sampleImage method, as shown here.

    It might be somewhat slow if you’re sampling from a large area.

    Hello Todd,

    will have a go at this, though what I’m after is sampling the whole of a 720×576 frame for its average brightness in order to then create volume changes, so it would be a large area.

    I was attempting to use openframeworks for doing this sort of thing, but the learning curve is a little steep, so will attempt to slowly chug through with AE
