  Reading timecode from metadata

  Hi,

  I have a question regarding the timecode of the EX-3. We recorded hours of footage with 3 synched EX-3 and need to do get the frames that have the same time-code associated with it. So we figured out by now that the SMPTE time code must be somewhere in the mpeg2 metadata for each frame in the recorded mp4 files. Does anybody know how to continue from here to actually read that metadata programatically? (We use the ffmpeg api to read our video files but I couldn’t find anything that lets me dump per-frame metadata)

  Another idea that would work also is too use FCP to produce a video 3-times in height like the original that just stitches the 3 synched frames together and we just read the result. Does FCP offer such a solution?

  Any ideas how to deal with the problem?
