reader for P2 cards?
Posted by Kent Beeson on August 28, 2008 at 6:39 pmHello
What’s the best way to ingest P2 footage if the client doesn’t have the camera? Is there a good reader out there or something? What to do?
Thanks

August 28, 2008 at 6:50 pmP2 Store is one option. Also contains a harddrive or can be used to injest directly from the cards

August 28, 2008 at 9:01 pmAny computer with a PCMCIA slot (an older version g4 powerbook or a pc) will do. Better yet, tranfer the footage to a external firewire dirve. Then just make sure that your clients has the correct drivers from panasonic and then download P2viewer here https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/sales_o/p2/p2viewer/index.html

August 28, 2008 at 9:08 pmIf you have an older laptop with a PCMCIA slot in it. you could use it to download the footage. You would need to load the drivers from Panasonic to make it work. I use an old “17 Mac Powerbook to do this with, and it works wonderfully. However I am looking at buying a PCD20 to import directly into my MacPro.

I know I keep harping on this, but the PCD20 has changed my P2 life.

August 28, 2008 at 11:03 pmThanks greatly for all responses – sounds like the PCD20 is the simplist way for my Mac Pro to play with these P2 cards. Anyone have a not pricey PCD20 for sale?
Thanks
