Adobe Media Encoder (bundled with Premiere) will do it, but you need to know what kind of MXF you want.

I need the standard MXF OP1a. I need to output an MXF with the Jpeg2000 codec. In Premiere, Media encoder or any Adobe app for that matter…as soon as you choose the MXF wrapper, you loose the ability to use the Jpeg2000 CODEC.

You could try setting up a preset in https://www.stuudio.ee/anothergui/ Another GUI. This would allow some dummy-proof usage if other editors, assistants and so on are using the tool.

As far as FFMBC being difficult, it’ll take a few forum posts and an afternoon to learn.

Can you point me to a few BIGINNER’S tutorial ? I’ve never used/installed anything that needs command line before. Is FFMBC compatible with osx 10.8.3 ??? Thanks

I had no idea JPEG2000 was an option in Op1a. Perhaps I need to step back from this one.

    Anthu,
JPEG2000 within MXF-wrapper is NO MXF OP1a, what you are looking for is a DCP – digital cinema package, that gots JPEG2000 within MXF-wrapper.

there is some freeware and also expensive applications and/or hardware that can do this.

    cheers

    Hi Daniel,

I’m familiar with Jpeg2000 and MXF for DCP, i do DCP authoring on a regular basis using anything from open source to the Fraunhofer DCP creator suite.

What i’m looking for is a way to encode/transcode video strictly for archiving purpose. The videos need to be encode/transcode using the Jpeg2000 codec and wrap with MXF. In this case do you know what type of MXF i need, if according to your post, OP1a is not possible. Thx
