July 6, 2005 at 6:41 pmSorry but Ive tried the first suggestion (enclosed) and there was no difference at all in transitions between images (i.e. there were no transistions just cuts as per usual. Any ideas?

Also, I went to the following site as suggested but couldnt find a transition script that worked. Any chance of posting a direct link?
Thanks

This only applies if done BEFORE adding the events to the timeline. Then you select them all and drag them all to the timeline at once. They will be placed on the timeline with the amount of overlap you specified.

Under “Free Scripts” with the title “AddGaps&Overlaps.js -adding gaps/overlaps between events”
https://www.jetdv.com/vegas/forum/viewtopic.php?t=636
You will need to manually adjust the gap/overlap amount and use a negative timecode for overlaps.

July 6, 2005 at 7:51 pmJed. Thanks again for your ultra prompt response to my post.
Sorry to say I’m still having trouble (see enclosed). Duh! I feel like a newbie on both PCs and Vegas, yet I’m a full time PC repair tech, plus I have about 18 months experience on Vegas-5. (This is what I mean about finding Vegas very difficult in some respects. But thanks for your patience once again 🙂

I would imagine I'd have to paste it into a file and give it an extention name. But I'd appreciate a few pointers. Thanks again. Turn ON “Cut ot overlap conversion” and set it to the amount you want the clips overlapped. Once set, drag the events to the timeline and they will be overlapped by that amount.

Copy the text of the script and paste it into notepad. Save it in the “Script Menu” folder under the Vegas folder as “AddGaps+Overlaps.js”. You can then run the script by going to Tools – Scripting and picking that file.

———-Sorry but it doesent work for me at all. I did what you said, and I even set the overlap amount to 4 secs at one point, but I still get zero crossfades. I take it that Vegas-5 – which I have – is the same setup as Vegas-6 in this respect.
I’ll try the script and see if that will work.
Thanks

July 7, 2005 at 3:52 pmVegas 3, 4, 5, and 6 are the same in this respect (I don’t have 2 on a machine any more)
Let’s make sure we’re both talking the same:
1) Options – Preference – Editing tab: “Automatically overlap multiple selected media when added” is CHECKED and the “Cut to Overlap conversion” amount is set to the length you want the clips overlapped.
2) You select several events in the Explorer window or the Media Pool and drag them ALL to the timeline at once.
You will now have a bunch of clips on a single track overlapped by the amount you specified.

————-Hi again Edward.
Yup, Ive followed your instructions as above. The only variation would be in what you mean by “drag them ALL to the timeline at once”. Ive tried dragging with the left mouse button, and with the right …but still no go: the images just sit there side by side on the timeline with no visible overlap, and when played, one image simply cuts to the next.
I take it the ‘selected media’ can be images or video clips? (I’ve been using images).
Thanks for your impressive patience on this problem, but it looks like I’m stumped …unless there is another option somewhere that I also need to enable for auto-overlaps.

July 7, 2005 at 8:11 pmGo to the explorer window. Click on the LAST image. Hold down the shift key and click on the FIRST image. This should select them ALL. Now click and drag the first image which should drag them ALL to the timeline at once. When added to the timeline, they will all have the specified crossfade time applied.

———-Yup, Ive been doing all that. But still no go.
(Yipee!) I did finally get it to work by going to Option and highlighting ‘Enable Crossfades’. This was the final step that I hinted at earlier.
Thanks again for your time and patience. We got there in the end 🙂
Cheers
Tin
