Re: Replacing audio for video already in timeline
Hi everyone!
I found this same title but in 2008, though the answer isn´t helping me.
https://forums.creativecow.net/docs/forums/post.php?forumid=8&postid=1016516&univpostid=1016516&pview=tI´m using fcpx, I have already started editing, putting cutting long clips in the timeline, and I thought that I could open the master clip in the browser and then, add and replace the audio from the camera to the one from the Zoom.
The thing is that when I do this, the clips in the timeline aren´t refreshed with the sound from the master clips. I think the masters copy themselves…
Could anyone tell me how to solve this now?

Once a clip is in the timeline, it won’t refresh with changes made to that same clip in the Browser. For those changes to appear, they have to be newly added to the timeline. In some instances, you can just drag the clip from the Browser on top of the clip in the timeline and Replace it. But this won’t work once the clip has been cut on in the Timeline.
I believe the only instance it’ll work is if you still have the very beginning of a clip intact in the Timeline (Replace from Start). Actually, there’s also a Replace from End (of the clip) as well, so two instances it would work.
Unless someone else knows of a bit of magic I’m not familiar with for this scenario. But pretty sure the only time the Parent/Child relationship is retained is instances of Multicam clips. And I recall reading somewhere on the forums here recently that many advocate using Multicam clips to sync audio instead of the Synchronize Clips feature, in part, because of the flexibility Multicam clips. If I run across that thread, I’ll add it to the discussion.
