    Hello,

I’m an old Avis user, who through no fault of their own has had to use FCP for the last couple of years. Anyway I’ve just purchased a copy of Xpress pro which I haven’t installed yet, but I’ve notice on the box that if used on a Mac (which it will be) HDV is not supported-if this is the case and I have no reason to disbelieve the box, then when is this issue going to be addressed. I know it took Avid some time to add HDV support (longer than Apple), but it seems a long time ago that it sorted it for wintel boxes, I foolishly assumed that they would have done the same for Macs. Don’t tell me I’m gonna have to go out and buy a PC-cos that aint gonna happen. Can anyone shed any light on this issue, is it a Quicktime issue by any chance?

    Thanks in advance.

I don’t know which version of Xpress Pro you have but Avid fully supports HDV in both Macs and Windows. And with the version 5.5.1 it also supports HD on a Mac. I don’t know if you’ve done any editing on HDV but it would be best if you capture it in DVCPRO so you can do frame accurate editing.
