re-linking quicktime reference files with changed path
The movie I am currently editing is shot on the canon 5D. on the set the team usually uses a timecode generator put into the camera so that we can merge the TCs of video and external sound.
therefore we are using fcpAUXtcMac1.6.4 which first reads the timecode out of the clips and in a second step merges it with the soundfiles according to the right Tc. the merged files importet into FCP are all reference files. that seems to be a problem because i cannot outsource parts of the project on other harddrives once the reference files have been created, is that right? because when i do so, fcp is for ages searching for the missing other reference files or sound files. can i stop that? or is it impossible to move reference files? is there a way to change their path or relink them when their path has been changed? so far I had no luck with that. does anyone know?thanks in advance

First, you’re running an old version. Current version is 1.6.8
But that won’t solve your problem.You can move QT refs around, but it’s always a risk.
At least you need the relatie paths to be correct.But it’s best to create new self contained files on the machine you have created the QT refs before moving them. This is just a simple flatten operation.
Or, on the BWF_QT merge application, paste in the sound as self contained. The video files get a little bit larger, but it’s quite a fast operation. The QT ref part is more for extreme fast testing of custom offset settings.If you can’t find a flatten tool, let me know and i’ll make one.
