So I’m tearing through a project, and somehow I keep getting into the situation where video and audio are getting unlinked.

That is I use the timeline unlink option so I can delete the aduio from one clip, or shorten it, making “Split Edits” (Sound bridging the shots) then I forget to re-enable it,and the next thing i know I’m moving another clip, and leaving the audio. So I Command + Z re-enable timeline based clip linking, but now the video and audio aren’t linked any more.

SO, how can I RE-Link them so I don’t have to select both the video and audio clips to drag them together.

I’m telling you, linking really ought to be clip based. Turning ion and off for the entire tiemline is a pain.

    Final Cut Pro 6.

    Any help, thanks.

Align the audio & video tracks, select both and Cmd-L will link them (Cmd-L again will unlink). BTW to shorten/lengthen a track in a linked clip, hold down Option and click and drag the track’s end. Only the track, not the entire clip, will be affected.
