I’m going back in the job market and I’ve been on Final Cut for 7 years. If I download the trial of XpressPro and familiarize myself with it, is it similar enough to Media Composer to where I can confidently tell people I can work on an Avid? I know they have different features, but is the user interface pretty much the same?

If you feel like you can competently edit a project on Xpress Pro, you can edit on Media Composer. The interface is identical, except that in Media Composer you get more options, more effects, and more control over the app in general.

Download the Media Composer 3.5 trial and play with it. It will work for 14 days starting from the time you activate it. Download it here:

Get familiar with the differences between Media Composer and Xpress Pro (look at the default keyboard layouts, for one). Read the help file, and add Avid to your resume!

    I’ll be working late.
