In FCP 7 and prior versions it was possible re-join a clip in the timeline that was split with the blade tool by selecting the cut (the red arrows) and pressing the delete key. Does anyone know if this is possible in FCPX?

Thanks for answering. I’ll be submitting this as a feature request on the FCPX feedback site.

A work-around I’ve used is to replace 1 (or more) of the segments with a Gap clip (right-click to do so) and then ripple or roll the remaining clip over the gap(s).

YES! This was an extremely useful tip.

Actually thinking it over, the replace with gap part isn’t necessary, just use the trim tool to roll over the segment that you want to rejoin. At any rate, this little thing alone has me 20% less frustrated with FCP X.
