  • Re-Interlacing? Problems with Progressive Video

I have recently authored a DVD of an edit someone did for me. I transfered the files he cut in Premiere into FCP and then, after a bit of tweaking, exported through Compressor then Studio Pro. When the DVD played back on a normal telly it was jumpy (and sort of flickered) around during panning and movement within the frame. I quized the editor and he told me that he had deinterlaced all the files before giving them to me. He has since deleted the orginals so I am stuck with what he has given me. Is there a way to re-interlace or at least remove this flicker to some extent? I am pretty new to this so laymans terms would be appreciated.

If there are interlacing artifacts is because the footage hasn’t been de-interlaced.
If you have those artifacts is because the clip have been miss-recognized or because have been rendered with the wrong field order.
If the clip have been only miss-recognized you only need to send it again to Compressor making sure that Compressor understand the correct field-order.
If the clip have been rendered with the wrong field-order, I’m afraid there is nothing to do to repair that.
