re-install 10.6.8 combo update
Is there any way to trick os x into re-intalling a combo update?
I’ve tried to do it, but it always gives an error when it begins installation.
Likely due to it already being installed.There are some corrupt system files disk warrior can’t repair
and now the system randomly locks up often, but otherwise
runs just fine. -

Try this.
go to ~/Library/Receipts folder
look for “MacOSXUpdateCombo10.x.x.pkg” or whatever corresponds to last update you downloaded.
move it out of that folder, close the folder.
Try running the combo installer again.
If that doesn’t help, then put the file you moved back into the Receipts folder.
Disk Warrior deals with corrupt directory issues. There could be some other issue with your drive that might warrant full backup, wipe, and restore.
