    Hello,

We have a G5 with a Cinewave card running version 4.5 of FCP. We then bought a new copy (version 5) and made it into a dual boot system in case the Cinewave had trouble with version 5, Tiger and Quicktime. It has since proved to be ok, therefore we have installed the version 5 copy onto another suite, and bought an upgrade to the 4.5 version. I have just spent over an hour reinstalling all the Studio apps but on opening FCP it still sees the old serial number. I’ve done a search on this forum and someone suggests: “throwing away the FCP System ID file, FCP prefs and then restart your machine? then try running the updater. it should then ask for a valid serial number for the update”.

I’ve trashed the prefs but I’m not sure where the FCP System ID file lives.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

This reply by Matte to an earlier post says it is here:
