    Hello,
I seem to have a problem playing out to Digibeta. I am getting the pictures to stick to tape, when it comes to sound however, well thats a different matter. It seems that sound does go down onto tape but not for the whole programme i.e. sometimes there is sound at the beginning sometimes at the end but not usually both or in the middle. During the edit to tape process I get audio levels on the deck and can monitor the sound on the deck, and when you shuttle the deck back and forward after you see and hear the audio, but not when simply playing in real time! This has happened to me before when using FCP 5 with a Cinewave card, I spent ages trying to suss it out, but in the end gave up and exported the edit and played out from our Kona 2 set up, which was no problem, this led me to believe that it may be a Cinewave/FCP 5/QT 7 issue. Now I have replaced the Cinewave card with a Kona LH, and have the ame problem-what a lark! I am going in via SDI with embedded audio, but have tried analogue audio and have the same problem, also tried mixing audio down to no avail. I’ve just spoken to someone who reckons that it is a deck issue, something to do with having the heads realigned, but I’ve just tried doing a dub from a J30 via SDI and that was ok. So where am I going wrong, cause this is really hacking me off now.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

Do you have a different deck (anything, not just another digibeta) to see if you can layoff a clean audio signal? Does the audio drop out in the FCP timeline at all? Does the audio drop out in the same place?

Otis- Had a somewhat similar problem going to digitbeta. It ended up being a synch issue. In our case I believe we had to disconnect the video out from the digibeta going to the Kona (it was looping through and messing with the timing).

You need a good reference signal to both the Kona and the VTR.

Thanks for the response. I have tried dubbing from another deck and that laid the sound down fine. I have also tried it with the video out disconnected from the digibeta going to the Kona, the reference is from a black and burst and is fine. I have tried simply crashing the programme to tape and that also gives me a clear audio signal, therefore it would seem there is some issue with the edit to tape function. As I have said we have just swapped our Cinewave card for the Kona LH and we have the same issue. FCP has been reinstalled, preferences have been trashed, anyone have any more ideas?

    Thanks in advance.
