  • Re-edit after color correction in Color

Hi. I didn’t know if this is the right place to post this but still I’m asking this (this is about FCP and Color).

I have edited six 5 minutes long short movies and color corrected those properly. Now after it’s all done my client said that he wants some changes to them. This is pretty annoying because first my client said that it’s all good to go. Now I need to edit a bit of these (not much though) but I wouldn’t like to color correct all these again in Color so what should I do to keep most of the clips corrected?

    Thanks

    Mikko

If you copy a color corrected clip in the timeline, you can paste it’s attributes (like filters and motion) to other clips.

Just copy the color corrected clip, right-click on the clip in the timeline you want to paste the color filters to and sellect ‘paste atrributes’. When you do so, a menu pops up where you can select what attributes you want to paste. To paste color settings choose ‘filters’. You can also remove attributes the same way (‘remove attributes’).

    I hope this helps.

[Gunther Stern] “If you copy a color corrected clip in the timeline, you can paste it’s attributes (like filters and motion) to other clips. “

He’s talking about Apple Color, the application, not a filter. You cannot copy and paste attributes from Apple Color.

What you do is create a duplicate timeline from your finished color corrected master.

Make the edit changes in that timeline.

Now extract the new shots that you have made changes to or added and paste those into a new timeline.

Send that new timeline to Color and grade those extra / changed shots.

Render, Send to Final Cut Pro.

Now simply copy and paste those new graded shots into your timeline.
