  • Re-digitize from 8-bit uncompressed to HDV

OK, I know I can do this (in fact I think I’ve done it) but for some reason I can’t get it to work.

I want to take an 8-bit uncompressed SD sequence in an 8-bit uncompressed FCP project and re-digitize the sequence in HDV.

    Things I’ve tried.

Created an HDV sequence inside the 8-bit project and copied and pasted the 8-bit sequence clips into the HDV sequence and tried to re-digitize in HDV. Doesn’t work.

Media managed the 8-bit sequence using re-compress (HDV). Doesn’t work.

Created an HDV project and pasted the 8-bit sequence into an HDV timeline to re-digitize. Hasn’t worked.

Does anyone have the workflow on this? Any help would be appreciated.

use the media manger to “Create Offline” of your sequence and send that to a new project with HDV settings.

When that new project opens up, recapture the media in the bin with HDV and then it will relink to that new sequence.

Jeremy- Thanks Jeremy… it worked… at least for half of the clips. The workflow was right…. it is just dealing with HDV time code/control track. Unless you have 10 seconds of pre-roll forget it.

I kept getting stuck on the re-compress option in media manager.

    Thanks for your help.
