  Hi Rory,

  The problem that you are experiencing with the vector trace tool in RED is that you need to adjust the trace tolerance / sensitivity setting in the vector trace tool palette. The result that you will get from the vector trace tool is dependent on the media that you are using and this is why you may need to make adjustments to the tolerance setting.
