I know this is an old post, but I just “inherited” a PowerMac G5 with dual 1.8 and 3GB Ram. I gave up my slightly better Dell because our last unused license for CS3 was Mac only. It is doggedly rendering, even with multi-processing on. Interaction is acceptable, but there is a lag when I ram preview. It has the latest updates from adobe. Has anyone learned how to speed these up?

If you have multiprocessing enabled you may experience a slow-down before RAM Previews and Renders.
The only thing I can suggest to speed things up is to get a newer computer.
