I’m on a Mac G5 2.7. using the ioLA and found I couldnt play uncompressed also P2 video from a HVX200
Q. What AJA HD product would work now on my present system and what are the limitations (ProRes) ? I need it for DVCPRO HD various settings

REPLY – you will get the Intel based MAC Pro. You will not use your MAC G5 dual 2.7. You can use the Kona LHe, the Kona 3, or the AJA I/O HD. You can put a Kona LH in your current system, but it won’t do ProRes. It will however do DVCProHD.

Q Should I keep my ioLA for Betacam or can I use the new AJA for both codecs?

REPLY – the Kona LHe or the AJA I/O HD will both work. The I/O HD is “today’s” choice.

Q Trade in ioLA price? Its really confusing right now. Need a comparison matrix chart that incudes Mag G5 old and new.

REPLY – there is no TRAND IN from any dealer or AJA. You can sell it on ebay. Expect to get about $400 – $500 for it.

correct.
G5’s with PCIx slots are not supported at all. The only non intel mac supported is the the last shipping model of the Quad.

There is not a trade in policy,

you need an intel mac like Bob says.

you will not be able to use ProRes on your current computer.

if you want to keep your current machine, look into the Kona LH.

Just to clarify, Peter would be able to use ProRes on his current computer, he just wouldn’t be able to capture to ProRes without an intel mac, and might not need to upgrade depending on his post needs if he goes with the HPX.
