Is it possible to extract the depth channel info. from a .iff file (which has RGB info as well) in AE? I know you can do this with .RLA while using the 3D extract. If so, can someone help me with a solution to achieve DOF blurring with .iff. files.

    thanks!

Not sure, but IFF should work also. Do you see the depth channel in other apps (fcheck for instance)?

F-check views the sequence fine… I’m just not getting this iff to work properly in AE.

3D channel extract doesn’t seem to be working for me…do you need to add a blur effect after you do the 3D channel Z depth extract fx?

Sorry, I somehow possibly didn’t read your original post correctly. If you can extract the Z-Depth and only the Depth Blur effect doesn’t see it, the I’d simply use the greyscale with Compound Blur or the Lensblur filter in AE 7. Duplicate the layer, extract the depth, apply the blur on the original RGB layer and reference the depth channel in the plugin interface.
