Razor options in Premiere
Hi,
I’m trying to get the best of several worlds in editing software.
I’m using Harris Velocity (Quattrus and HD) at work
For myself I’m using FCP and because I work with After EffectsCS4, I’m trying PremiereCS4 as well.
(to see how it interacts with AE, as I’m owning it anyway in Prod.Prem)For now I find that Pr has some adventages to FCP when it comes to editing several filesystems (h2.64, XDCAM, AVCHD) without problems, where FCP has to render stuff.
On the other hand FCP has some options that are just not available in PrCS4
What I miss in both software (or maybe I didn’t find it yet) is the following, and my question….
Velocity has an option to switch to razor tool, but this razor tool lets you scroll through a clip, rather than cut when you click.
(select the clip, then switch to razor)
While scrolling through a clip (in that mode) you see the video scroll like you are scrolling through the timeline. You see the video on your (external)monitor
next you can even fintune using cursor.
Clicking doesn’t cut your clip, rather: Pressing enter does the trick where you want your cut.Does Premiere or FCP hold an option somwhere similar like that?
It’s just what you’re used to, but I like this and miss it.Now I have to scroll through the timeline, and when I want a cut, select the razor tool, position it where I need (but don’t see exactly where I cut), or snap to playhead, and click, or cmd+k.
Hard to finetune, other than using playhead again.
