Hello. I am working on a scene with extruded shape layers and extruded text. All kinds of glitchy artifacts appeared when I added lights to the scene. The problem disappears when I turn on classic 3d, or when I turn off the lights in ray trace mode. Does anyone have ideas on how to resolve this? I’ve embedded a still frame so you can see what the artifacting looks like

I recently installed a Quadro 4000 and installed the drivers.
I’m working on a Mac Pro 5,1 OSX 10.6.8 with 16gb of RAM

    Thank you in advance..

Which Comp Preview Mode are you using? Set it to OFF (Final Quality)- ir the problem persists, increse the RT Quality & Anti-aliasing values. Let us know of the outcome.

Thanks RoRK! I had to bump the Ray Trace quality to 7 which seems to have fixed it, but it’s making for a really long render time so I haven’t seen the final result yet. I’ll share the results when I do. Thanks!

For long renders, it’s best to render to an image sequence. This allows you to view the frames that have been rendered without waiting for the entire Work Area to be rendered. You can actually import the frames that have been rendered as an image sequence and AE will continuously import frames as they are rendered – pretty cool!
