So i”ve got a simple 3D scene set up in AE.

Just some 3D text sitting on a floor with some reflections enabled. The text is also reflective and it seems to be where the problem is coming from. I have a camera setup with depth of field, everything in the scene is blurry, as it should be, except for these white specs on certain areas of the text where there are reflections. When I tone down the reflection intensity the issue goes away, but I want reflections. What I don’t understand is why the white specs are perfectly crisp and not being affected by the cameras DOF. I’ve tried switching up the cameras DOF settings as well as the ray trace settings inside of the comp and nothing seems to be helping.

I’ve have a screenshot on my dropbox of the problem.

Let me know what you guys think.

    Thanks,

Those white specs are a KNOWN ray-tracing issue. You will need to crank up the Ray-tracing quality to preclude the issue from occurring.

Further, the said artefact is more prevalent when DOF is initiated. Reducing DOF will help to alleviate BUT not solve the issue.
