Raw DV
Posted by Braedon Bryers on August 28, 2009 at 1:56 amHi i use Sony Vegas alot and was wondering if there is any way of changing the setting of importing from a dvd to Raw DV?
at the moment it’s importing to mpeg2….i want to change it to import to Raw DV

When you import something, you get it in it’s original format.
If you want DV-AVI (raw DV), you’ll have to render to that after importing. -

September 3, 2009 at 2:51 amYou will have to convert it to DV if that is what you want after you import from the DVD. DVD’s video files (.VOB) are mpeg2 already – that is the format of a DVD. Using some sort of “capture” of the video from a DVD player is not going to get you any better quality than what you can get by grabbing the data from the DVD (mpeg2) and editing that into whatever format you need (although, any conversion between compressed formats usually results in lost quality)

File – Import – DVD Camcorder Disc.
As long as it’s not a commercial DVD, this works great.
