I read in a review for AE CS3 that you can use raw camera files in your project. Does this mean from a photo camera or video? I wasn’t aware that you could film in raw camera mode on a video camera… and if they mean still photo camera… why wouldn’t use just use photoshop?

To add to what Dave said…

You can get a list of what cameras the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in supports, and therefore are supported by After Effects CS3, from here:
    https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html

Also, when Adobe releases a new Camera Raw plug-in for Photoshop, you can download it and After Effects CS3 will benefit from the update. (This is different than AE7, which was stuck with a static version of the Camera Raw plug-in.)

You can also use the Adobe Raw DNG converter to convert any RAW format to a universal one that will work with AE 7 and CS3.
